Skydiving with Glenwood Springs Municipal Airport as the drop zone for the second season begins Friday.

Roaring Fork Skydivers, which moved last year from Boulder to Glenwood Springs, says it offers some of the most scenic tandem skydiving in the state.

Operating out of the Sopris Aviation Hangar at the municipal airport, Roaring Fork Skydivers offers jumpers views of the Continental Divide, the Maroon Bells, Aspen Ski Resort and Glenwood Springs as they ride to altitude.

Jeremy Divan, owner of Roaring Fork Skydivers (formerly Independent Skydive Company), said he is excited about his introduction to the Roaring Fork Valley. He said Glenwood Springs is state’s fifth drop zone, with Denver as the next closest.

The views here cannot be beat. I have jumped all over the world … this is a special place,” Divan said. “It’s the most scenic place to skydive in the state.”

Divan, a former U.S. Marine, started skydiving at age 28 and has more than 7,000 jumps on his resume.

Lisa Langer, vice president of tourism marketing for Glenwood Springs, is excited about the impact the business could have on Glenwood tourism.

“It’s wonderful to be able to market skydiving when attracting new visitors to Glenwood Springs,” she said. “The fact that there are tandem jumps appeals to thrill seekers of all ages.”

Jumpers must be at least 18 years old to complete a tandem jump, which is priced at $308. Discounts are available for locals, military, firefighters and police, seniors and industry workers.
