LEARN TO SKI OR RIDE

Powderhorn Mountain Resort’s new “Learn to Ski or Snowboard Series” allows first-time skiers or riders the opportunity to slide Grand Mesa’s slopes three times for $149. That price includes full-day lessons, lift tickets and equipment for any three days of the season. The program spans all ages — 5 years old on up for ski lessons and 7 years old and up for snowboarding. Plus, after completion of all three lessons, the newly educated skier or boarder receives a non-transferable “Graduate Card,” which provides a 50-percent discount on all future lessons that season as well as lift tickets and gear rental.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN

Powderhorn Mountain Resort is located on Colorado’s Grand Mesa, about an hour from the center of Grand Junction, or 40 miles east. It offers 1,600 acres of skiable terrain, 63 trails, five lifts, and three terrain parks. The base elevation is 8,200 ft., with a summit elevation of 9,850 ft.

Powderhorn also features other amenities, like indoor and outdoor seating with views of the ski area, West End BBQ & Bar, Sunset Grill & Bar, live music, a bag jump, a tubing hill, Powderhorn Racing Club and more.

RECAP OF THE WEEK

The snow has returned! Powderhorn Mountain Resort received nine inches of new snow this week, bringing the snow base up to 36 inches. With more snow in the forecast for the weekend and cooler temperatures, winter has finally returned to the mountains.

MARCH SPECIALS



All children age 6 and under ski free in March. Plus, “Buy One, Get One” adult midweek tickets are valid every week through March, Monday through Friday (no coupons needed). All youth and junior tickets are 40-percent off every day and all college students receive a 20-percent discount on daily lift tickets (must show college ID). The March lesson special includes one full-day lift ticket, a lesson, and rental equipment (no helmet included) for $85.

HOME LOAN BUSINESS LEAGUE RACE



The second to last Home Loan State Bank Race series event will be hosted on Friday, Feb. 27. The team to beat is Hilltop. Come on up and cheer on your favorite business team before night skiing.

WAGNER RENTS NIGHT SKIING

Get ready for the second annual Wagner Rents Night Skiing on Feb 27-28. Full-season passes will be valid for both evenings of night skiing. Mid-week season passes will be valid Friday night. Full-day lift ticket purchasers (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will need to buy the additional night-skiing ticket for $30. Tickets from noon to 9 p.m. will cost $54; tickets valid from 4-9 p.m. will cost $30. A DJ will play on the deck from 6-9 p.m. both nights.

Powderhorn will also raffle off a Never Summer Breckenridge Brewery snowboard on Saturday, Feb. 28.

A USASA Night Rail Jam will additionally be held on Saturday from 5-8 p.m.

2015-16 SEASON PRE-SALE PASSES

With the exciting announcement of the new high speed quad, Powderhorn is offering a pre-season 20-percent pass sale discount to its current 2014-15 season pass holders. Prices are only good until Feb. 28. To purchase passes, contact the Ticket Office at 970-268-5700, ext. 2100.

The popularity of the Grand Junction Free Press Learn to Ski or Snowboard series continues to grow. Since launching the program, Powderhorn has hosted over 500 new skiers and snowboarders.

MILITARY APPRECIATION WEEKEND

Calling all active and retired military! Powderhorn wants to thank you for your service with discounts on lift tickets and rentals March 7-8. Present a military ID for discounts at the lift ticket office and rental shop.
