After five years in an old liquor store, Carol Mueller’s lavender boutique finally has a new home — 305 Main St., Unit 207, in Palisade. The shop is officially open Friday, Feb. 13.

It also has a new name and focus. What used to be Lavender Lady and Friends is now called Lavender Lady Boutique, a shop which features homemade lavender lotions, teas and more made by Mueller. Lavender used comes from local growers like Sage Creations and Cloud Terrace Farm.

“I haven’t left town; we just have a new name and location,” Mueller said.

Lavender Lady Boutique is home to a variety of other Colorado products as well, including cooking and dipping sauces, clothing, and jewelry. Food samples will be available daily.

The store is currently open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but store hours will change seasonally.

Mueller additionally hopes to sell Wild Women Wine from Denver once a liquor license is completed.

And though downtown road construction is currently underway, Lavender Lady Boutique will remain open.

“Come visit me,” she said. “I don’t want to be lonely.”

WHY LAVENDER?

Mueller has been involved with lavender production since childhood. Her grandmother transplanted from England and grew lavender bushes in her backyard. She also made her own sprays with the fragrant flower.

According to Mueller, her Lavender and Lace product line was inspired by her grandmother, who used to crotchet lace as well. She specializes in lotions and bug sprays.

“The bug sprays aren’t just for mosquito bites, but also for people with shingles, psoriasis and other skin problems,” she said, adding that lavender oil is a natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal treatment.

“She’s awesome,” said Shelly Murphy, owner of Mountain Vineyard Massage in Palisade. “Her products are awesome. I haven’t had any trouble with them, and neither have my clients.

“It’s really gentle on the skin, especially if it’s sensitive like mine.”
