GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — During the past six years, Artspace & Open Studios, has organized a number of business series in Grand Junction to discuss topics of practical interest to visual and other cultural artists.
In addition, Artspace sponsors a continuing series of exhibits for the public to become aware and appreciative of the local talent in our valley. One such event is coming up Thursday, Feb. 23, at Two Rivers Winery Chateau, 2087 Broadway.
“Milestones” Fine Art Show & Sale will offer exhibits in jewelry, pottery, paintings, fiber art and more. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A reception with cash bar is planned from 5-7 p.m. Participating artists include Kevin Koch, Cheryl Harley, Maggie Cook, Gayle Gerson and many more.
Artspace strives to provide resources, education and promotions to the public about artists living and working here in the Grand Valley — and Artspace continues to grow its offerings including two new programs. The first is a school-to-work intern program with high school and Colorado Mesa University students to learn about management for placement in nonprofits; the second is a partnership with the Career Center to assist their clients with an art training program that helps students with mild to moderate disabilities learn adaptive behaviors for job placement in the community.
At the Feb. 23 show and sale, there will also be a silent auction of goods and services donated by the business community to raise money for the two new programs.
Visit www.artspacecolorado.org or call 970-640-8177 for more information. Sponsors of this event include: Alpine Bank, Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Simplicity Solar, Jeff Evans, Inc., and Premier Collections. Thanks to the Artist's Haven for discounts on art supplies and to Artspace members for their continued support.
