The closing of another neighborhood grocery store was announced this week. That's sad news for many folks who've patronized the little store for several decades, it's convenient location being especially handy for many who have limited transportation issues. But all things change and like it or not, the City Market at First and Orchard will shut it' doors on March 24.
City Market management has determined the store is no longer profitable. And, as painful as the closing is, they plan to rub even more salt in the wound. A store spokesperson stated that a “town hall” type meeting was planned for late February so that people could voice their concerns, but that the store would be closing anyway. WHAT!!?
If the decision has already been made to close the store anyway, what's the point of wasting time and gas money going to a town hall meeting?
