GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — What do you get when you mix good food with good music and good dancing?
You get the annual Grand Junction High School 2012 Jazz Dinner Dance and Silent Auction. And this year, there's a new twist.
The jazz bands from Grand Junction High School will be joined by the Orchard Mesa Middle School eighth-grade jazz band for the extravaganza on Feb. 4 at the Lincoln Park Barn.
The catered dinner from Olive Garden will be served by members of the Grand Junction High School jazz bands from 5:30-7 p.m. Live music and dancing will run from 7-10 p.m.
The cost for adults is $15 for the dinner and dance or $7 for just the dance. The cost for students is $10 for the dinner and dance or $5 for just the dance.
Dinner tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at Back Porch Music, Java Junction, Roper Music and from any Grand Junction High School jazz student.
The annual event is an educational-performance experience for the jazz band students and is a fundraiser for the band department at Grand Junction High School. The proceeds will be used to cover the costs for competitions and to purchase new instruments.
Last year, it was standing-room only in the barn and the dance floor was so congested with people of all ages, boogieing the night away.
