I was rather disappointed that foreclosures were about the only issue that news channel 8 got from our hour-long meeting at Rep. Scott Tipton's office, as we actually went there to address a number of concerns.
Due to the limitations for the size of this letter to the editor, let me clarify this: NONE of us are opposed to wealth, or the wealthy, or the fact that 1% of the population of the U.S. has 80%-90% of the money in our economy. We have no axe to grind with CEOs who make exorbitant millions in bonuses every year; we really don't have a problem with that, we think wealth is everyone's right and we would like every citizen to have the ability to create whatever level of wealth that they would be happy with.
WHAT WE ARE OPPOSED TO is that somehow the very wealthy are: 1) not paying taxes that we are all expected to pay; 2) that the wealth accumulated by many of this elite group has either been bailed out by the American taxpayer because “THEY ARE TOO BIG TO FAIL”; 3) there was no recompense for the taxpayer for the damage manufactured by those companies (intentionally, just in case you didn't know); 4) there were no criminal charges brought against those specific individuals in order to have justice prevail in this country. Why?; 5) They are ones who elect our government officials, ergo, they make laws that keep them from being liable for the damage they have caused.
