Editor's note: The Free Press features a local business each week that has used the services of Grand Junction's Business Incubator Center. During the recession, the Incubator has seen an increase in people starting their own business.

Ginny Halcomb attended beauty school and ended up falling in love with skin.
Halcomb opened Wax What?!, a skin salon, two weeks ago with the help of a business loan from the Business Incubator Center, a nonprofit that offers low-cost business classes and free consulting to new and expanding Mesa County businesses.
At the Incubator, Halcomb, 30, said she attended classes that covered starting a business, taxes and budgeting.
“As soon as you think about a business it's a smart idea to go check them out,” Halcomb said.
Wax What?! offers all-body waxing to remove unwanted hair, and air-brush tanning — a painted on temporary tan that lasts five to seven days.
Business has been good since Wax What?! opened about three weeks ago, Halcomb said. She employs three people.
Fees for services range from $7 to $95. Halcomb's clients include men and women.
“I have quite a few guys,” she said.
Wax What?! is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop is located at 480 West Park Drive, unit 105. A ribbon-cutting is planned Sept. 23 at 11:30 a.m.
Halcomb is currently offering a special: A free vajazzle with a Brazilian.
Wax What?! can be reached at 241-4455.
