The Sixth annual Palisade Classic Mountain Bike race is gearing up for May 15.
The Grand Mesa Grind represents the evolution of five years of racing at the base of the Grand Mesa in the high desert surrounding Palisade. The Grand Mesa Grind has grown to be the ultimate grassroots race event starting and ending in downtown Palisade.
The Full Grind MTB race is a unique and challenging mountain bike race climbing 4,800 feet through Palisade's watershed up the slopes of the Grand Mesa. Ride through beautiful meadows and wild creek crossings, descend a steep, rocky mining road back to Horse Mountain and downtown Palisade. Thirty-four miles of tough climbs, technical descents, and sweet desert single track!
The Half Grind MTB race is a challenging high desert loop which departs from Palisade south around the flanks of the Grand Mesa and Horse Mountain. Course length varies from 20 miles for beginner to 24 miles for sport. Winners will be awarded some of the best prizes of any race, said race organizers.
Register at Rapid Creek Cycles in Palisade, The Bike Shop in Grand Junction, or come to the Bike and Art mixer at the Twisted Brick Gallery Friday, May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is also available at active.com. For more information, visit rapidcreekcycles.com or thebikeshopgj.com.
