DUI diaries
From GJPD reports: Denis Radke, 45, was arrested Monday and released on a summons for DUI and failing to display tail lamps at 5th St. & Ute Ave.
Trisha York, 32, was arrested Nov. 25 and released on a summons after she was contacted at US Hwy 6 & 50 and Redlands Pkwy for driving an unsafe motor vehicle, DUI, and driving on a suspended license.
Aaron Torline, 30, was arrested Sunday and released on a summons after he was contacted at 1830 N. 12th St. for failing to display head lamps when required, possession of drug paraphernalia, and DUI.
Last chance for snail mail
The U.S. Postal Service reminds everyone that holiday mail and packages for our U.S. troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan should be sent by this Friday, Dec. 4, for arrival by Christmas. Holiday mail going to other military overseas APO/FPO locations should be sent by Dec. 11.

According to MCSO, Harlan Watkins, 31, was taken into custody Monday at the Mesa County Justice Center after showing up to court intoxicated.
Chili supper round-up
The Redlands Lions Club is holding its annual Chili Supper & Cake Raffle, Fri., Dec. 4, 4-8:30 p.m., Redlands Middle School Cafeteria, 2200 Broadway. Adults $5, $4/ages 7-11, under 7 free. Proceeds to benefit all the great local programs the Lions support.
The Fruita Lioness is holding its annual all-you-can-eat Chili Supper, Dec. 18, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Fruita Police Community Room. Adults $4, children age 6-12 - $2, under 6 eat free. Also, cornbread, coffee and cocoa. Proceeds will go to Latimer house and Homeward Bound. Info: 858-6762.

Reclamation's W. Colo. Area Office is preparing an environmental assessment to evaluate the impacts of a proposed system improvement project for Orchard Mesa Irrigation District, which includes construction of a 100-acre-foot reservoir on approximately 15 acres, construction of a recirc pump system at Duck Pond Park, etc. The plan is available at www.usbr.gov/uc/wcao/index.html under Current Focus.

Food, cash collection
Now until Dec. 22, The Art Center, 1803 N. Seventh St., will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations for the Food Bank of the Rockies. The barrel for the items is right inside the front door, and the donation box is in The Art Center gift shop.
Quest for perfect gift ends here
The 2nd annual Holiday Extravaganza to benefit the Rotary Youth Exchange Program is happening Dec. 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 711 Independence Valley Drive, Redlands. There will be 25 vendors to help you in your creative quest for the perfect Christmas gifts. Come and enjoy our festive holiday atmosphere, silent auction, raffle, food, and drink -- even beer and sports in the theater for the fellas. All proceeds will go to the Rotary Youth Exchange Program to help support exchange students from our community. Public open house set
The City of Fruita invites the community to a public open house Wed., Dec. 9, 6 p.m. at Dinosaur Journey. The open house is intended to gather public input on a proposed park development at the Kings View Open Space. The proposed park at completion would include an 18-hole disc golf course and an educational mountain bike terrain course.
Kings View Open Space is approximately 24 acres of river bottom land located on the southern banks of the Colorado River, east of highway 340, and extends west to the Snooks Bottom Open Space.
