A fundraiser for longtime Grand Junction resident Kenny Gross will take place Sunday, Dec. 6, at Bananas Fun Park.
Gross, 55, was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and most aggressive type of brain tumor. He underwent brain surgery in October and is now going through chemotherapy and radiation.
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at the event will go towards paying the family's mounting medical bills. Event organizers are asking for silent auction donations for the event.
“Kenny is such a good, kind-hearted guy. He's everybody's friend,” said Chris Burns, a family friend and organizer of the upcoming fundraiser. “This family needs help. They have three daughters and medical bills that are quickly accruing.”
Kenny, nicknamed Kenny G by his golfing buddies, is a sales representative for Shamrock Foods. He and his wife, Shawna, have three teenage girls: Lexie, 19, Dylana, 16 and Haylee, 13.
The fundraiser will take place at Bananas Fun Park from 3 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6. Tickets are $30 per person and will include a buffet-style meal of prime rib, chicken, ribs, side dishes, drinks and dessert and an Unlimited Bananas Fun Park Pass.
The fun pass includes go carts, laser tag, and entry into a mini-golf tournament where prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners. The evening will also include a silent auction with items like Danica Patrick autographed helmets, Avalanche, Rockies, Broncos and Nuggets tickets, autographed memorabilia from Denver Bronco player Rod Smith and more.
Organizers are asking for more silent auction donations. “Anything helps,” Burns said. “We're just going to try and raise as much money as we can for them.” Contact Burns at 270-3514 with questions about the event or to donate items for the auction.
