Man found shot in backyard
An unidentified man was found in the backyard of a home Saturday morning with a single gunshot wound to the chest, authorities said.
The man was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery for the injury. The incident was reported about 1:24 a.m. Saturday in the central part of the city, the Grand Junction Police Department said.
The condition of the man was not released. No arrests have been made. The incident is under investigation.
DUI arrest
A 47-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
John Duran was contacted about 1:57 a.m. by Mesa County Sheriff's deputies in the 4900 block of South Highway 50 in Whitewater. He was taken into custody and later released to Colorado West Mental Health, authorities said.
Burglary suspect
A 29-year-old man was arrested for second-degree burglary and criminal mischief Sunday morning.
Matthew Brunner was taken into custody in the 3000 block of Teller Avenue. He was transported and booked into the Mesa County jail.
Outstanding warrant
A 62-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested Saturday in the 2900 block of F Road after authorities determined he had an outstanding warrant.
Robert Maillet was taken into by custody about 5 p.m. by Mesa County Sheriff's deputies, authorities said.
Energy briefing session
The deadline to register is Monday for an energy briefing session that is going to feature speakers form the American Petroleum Institute and Grand Valley Power.
The briefing session is being held Wednesday at Grand Mesa Hall at Mesa State College.

The Grand Junction City Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
Among the items for consideration is a proposed rate and fee increase of 4 percent for a 2010 annual pass for Lincoln Park and Tiara Rado golf courses.
The council is also expected to hold a public hearing regarding the expansion of boundaries for the Downtown Development Authority.
