Attention Monument photogs
Colorado National Monument invites the local community to submit photographs for the annual “Monumental Memories Exhibit” that will be on display in the Visitor Center throughout the holiday season.
Local residents are invited to submit photos highlighting families and friends creating memories at the Monument — hiking, biking, picnicking, rock climbing, wedding ceremonies, gathering with friends and family, school trips, or vintage photos from years gone past. Size: 3x5 or 4x6 and include a descriptive caption. Must be received at the Visitor Center by Dec. 9. Info: 858-3617, ext. 360.
Toys for Tots sign-ups
To apply to receive toys, venture to the Workforce Center, 2897 North Ave., M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bring ID verifying names, ages of tots - birth certificate, Medicaid card, Social Security care, school ID, etc.
Toy distribution is set for Dec. 21-23, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. each day at the City Market Warehouse, First & Main. Parents need to bring proof of ID.

Tyffnae Dial, 30, was transported and booked into the Mesa County Jail last Sat. for DUI after investigation showed she operated a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol at Community Hospital.
Kaylee Gunderson, 25, was arrested Mon. in the 500 block of Mesa Valley Drive for driving with a revoked license and DUI. She was taken to MC jail.
Conservative group to meet
Western Slope Conservative Alliance will hold its monthly meeting Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at GJ City Hall. Jon Caldera, president of the Independent Institute, and Scott Tipton, candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, will be the guest speakers. Info: www.wscaonline.org.

Riverside Educational Center has received a $15,000 Daniels Fund Grant to support its organization.
REC provides structured after-school tutoring and enrichment activities for K-12th grade students who are academically and financially challenged.

West Slope Honor Flight is gearing up to send more WWII vets on another amazing journey to Washington, D.C., May 4-5, 2010. A fundraiser is planned for Dec. 7 - a screening of a great movie “Pearl Harbor” at 7 p.m. at Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
