DUI diaries
From GJPD reports: Sandy Phillips, 39, was stopped Mon. at 2nd & Pitkin after failing to maintain a single lane. Phillips was found to be driving while revoked for three prior alcohol offenses, driving while under the influence of alcohol, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and failing to provide proof of insurance. Off to jail he went.
Paige Ayo, 39, was arrested Sun. and released on a summons for DUI, driving under suspension, and unsafe tires at 26 Rd. & Fruitridge Dr.
Brett Kiger, 20, Delaina Marshall, 19, and Jeremy Rowell, 18, were all arrested and released on a summons for being underage in possession/consumption of alcoholic beverages. Rory Nankervis, 22, was arrested and released on a summons for DUI, no proof of insurance. All events occurred at 7th St. & Texas Ave.
And speaking of DUIs ...
Don't even think about his weekend, or ever for that matter. Local law enforcement will have beefed-up patrol presence out on the streets ready to bust you if you weave when you should have bobbed.

City offices closed, free parking!
City of Grand Junction offices will be closed on Thurs, Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27, in observance of Thanksgiving. No trash or recycling pickup on Thursday, and the schedule will be delayed by one day the remainder of the week.
Also beginning Thanksgiving and continuing through New Year's Day, parking will be free in designated areas downtown. Red bags on meters mean free parking. So holiday shoppers, come one, come all! Info: 244-1537.

Tenacious Brothers Pub is set to open Fri., Nov. 27, 710 Main St. (in the spot formerly known as The Spotlight Lounge). Let's hope they keep the tradition going of live, GOOD music on the cheap for the masses. They're off to a fine start with Riveter and Jack N Jill on opening night for $2 cover, 21+, music starts at 9 p.m. Info: 778-2033.
‘Help a Family' this season
Mesa County's Benevolent Community Partnership is asking if you'd like to “Help a Family” for the holidays. If interested, you will receive names and address of people in need. Groceries to prepare a holiday meal, new clothing for each family member, etc. would be welcome for these local families. You can deliver the items personally or you can arrange to drop off items at a central location. Financial contributions are also welcome.

Toy distribution is set for Dec. 21-23, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. each day at the City Market Warehouse, First & Main. Parents need to bring proof of ID.

KEKB held a turkey drive recently and a grand total of 82 were present to the Salvation Army for its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday.

Riverside Educational Center has received a $15,000 Daniels Fund Grant to support its organization.
