Citizen input requested at Fruita City Council Meeting, Tue., Nov. 17, 7 p.m., regarding medical marijuana dispensaries in Fruita.
Proposed locations include: Kokopelli Shopping Center, Kokopelli Commercial Area, U.S. Highway 340, U.S. Highway 6&50. This could be voted on and a final decision made for Fruita residents at this meeting. Please come and comment on this issue.

Underage imbibers
Lucas Carr and Ethan Kraft, both 18, were arrested Thursday and released on summons for possession/consumption of alcohol by an underage person at 484 28 Road.

A “Plein Air Watercolor Workshop” will be held May 3-7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The class will be held at different locations around the valley and there is only room for 10 students. Sportsmen's advisory group to meet
The Colorado Mule Deer Association and the Colorado Sportsmen's Wildlife Fund are hosting a meeting of the Division of Wildlife Northwest Sportsmen's Advisory Group. The meeting is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tue., Nov. 17, at the Bray and Co. Education Center, 640 Belford Ave. It is open to the public.
The meeting is an opportunity for attendees to bring up any issues that they want the DOW to address.
Forever families finally
Mesa County Department. of Human Services will finalize 11 adoptions Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. In Mesa County, there are about 20 children each year who become available for adoption through MCDHS.
The court has determined that these children are unable to reside with their birth parents and are in need of a permanent, loving and stable home. Info on the adoption program: Dena, 248-2818.
County reports 82 hospitalized cases of flu
Mesa County Health Department continues to monitor influenza-like illnesses and reports that Mesa County appears to be past the peak of H1N1 influenza activity. Data collected from physician offices, hospitals, labs, and schools indicate the decline in activity.
To date, there have been 82 hospitalized cases of influenza in Mesa County residents. This is more than four times the number of hospitalizations compared to the average number over the past five years.
No deaths have been reported. The age range for the hospitalized cases is 4 days to 86 years. Statewide, the age group with the highest hospitalization rate is children less than 6 months.
