Live shows coming

Big Head Todd & The Monsters coming to Mesa Theater Dec. 19. Were you a witness?

On Nov. 3, at approximately 3 p.m. an adult male was stabbed near 31 & E 1/2 roads in an attempted robbery. It is believed that when the victim refused their demands for money, he was stabbed. The suspects ran. The victim then drove himself to the hospital where he was treated and released that day. Investigators are asking the public to contact them if they saw anything believed to be connected to this incident. Meet Scott

State Rep. Scott Tipton will be in Fruita today, 5 p.m. to discuss his potential challenge against Rep. John Salazar. The “meet and greet” will be at El Tapatio, 402 Jurassic Ave. He'll give a short presentation and Q&A.

Women's self defense

High Desert Martial Arts, 560 S. Westgate, will be training women to use pepper spray to defend themselves Nov. 14 from 1-2:30 p.m. The cost is $10 if you choose to stay for the whole class and practice with “fake” pepper spray, or free if you just stay for an hour. Info: 243-8010.

Blankets needed

A group of local ladies has taken it on them themselves to help keep the homeless warm this winter, and they need your help. They are looking for blankets of any kind, baby blankets, sleeping bags, etc. to help people who are turned away from shelters when they are full. Drop off donations at either Gold's Gym location or Western Implement on North Avenue. Info: 394-0597.

DUI diaries

From GJPD & MCSO reports: Dustin Bowers, 19, was arrested Oct. 26 and released on a summons for DUI, reckless driving, failing to notify police of an accident, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and consumption of alcoholic beverages by an underage person at 3068 D Road.

Ventura Tanori, 31, was arrested Nov. 10 and released on a summons for DUI, DUI Per Se, and having no proof of insurance at 6th St. & Main St.,

James Sanchez, 59, was arrested Nov. 7 and released on a summons after he was contacted at 5th St. & Pitkin for careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Barbara Ann Boden, 52, was arrested and charged with a traffic violation and suspicion of DUI in the area of Riverside Pkwy and West Ave.

Incidentally, according to the Colo. State Patrol, 350 people were arrested for DUIs in Colorado during Halloween weekend. Seriously?!

Attention artists

Western Colorado Decorative Artists will be meeting at the First Congregational Church, 1425 N. Fifth St., on Nov. 14, starting at 9 a.m. Morning social begins at 9 a.m., business meeting begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a painting session and painted lunch pail auction fundraiser. Info: 241-8228.

Fundraiser for the Marillac Clinic

Art class with the one & only Gerald Fritzler

A “Plein Air Watercolor Workshop” will be held May 3-7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The class will be held at different locations around the valley and there is only room for 10 students. Sportsmen's Advisory Group to meet

The Colorado Mule Deer Association and the Colorado Sportsmen's Wildlife Fund are hosting a meeting of the Division of Wildlife Northwest Sportsmen's Advisory Group 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tues., Nov. 17, at the Bray and Co. Education Center, 640 Belford Ave.; open to the public.

The meeting is an opportunity for attendees to bring up any issues that they want the DOW to address.
