Aaron Poust, front desk lead, has been named Gold's Gym in Grand Junction November employee of the month. Poust is a full-time radiology student at Mesa State College. He's been with Gold's for 10 months.
• Grand Junction area teachers get a special treat Nov. 12-15 at Dressbarn, located in the Canyon View Marketplace. The store is holding a special V.I.P. • The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce has extended the registration deadline for its 2010 China trip to Nov. 15. The Chamber is giving more community members the opportunity to sign up for the 10-day trip departing in April 2010. For a one-time fee of $2,350 per person, the springtime trip includes roundtrip international airfare, 4- and 5-star hotel accommodations, three meals each day, deluxe bus tours and guides, as well as entrance fees to tourist attractions. • Family Health West Hospital Laboratory in Fruita has been awarded an accreditation by the College of American Pathologists based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.
Phyllis Pool, laboratory director, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the “excellence of the services being provided.”
“We are proud of this accomplishment,“ said Pool, “Our hospital is one of nearly 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.”
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program began in the early 1960s and is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine employee qualifications, the lab's equipment, facilities, safety program and safety record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory.
