The Fruita Fall Festival kicks off today and continues all weekend.
The 95th annual festival opens today at noon with a carnival and vendor booths set up on Aspen Street and Circle Park. The traditional Lioness Spaghetti dinner is held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a street dance at Circle Park, and a magic show at Pavilion Stage at 7 p.m.
Local favorite country band Exit 42 performs for tonight's street dance.
Festivities begin again Saturday morning at 9, with the sixth annual bed race, followed by a parade at 10, a “beer garden” from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., a baking and canning contest in the afternoon and Rimrock Rodeo finals at 7 p.m.
Entries for the baking and canning contest can be dropped off today or Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Stage.
The theme for this year's bed race is “Legends of the West.” For a bed race application visit www.fruitafallfestival.com.
The Pavilion stage's headline music act Saturday night is Grammy-nominated singer-guitarist Don Edwards.
Sunday opens with Cowboy Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A youth pet and talent show is from 1 to 4 p.m. Award-winning cowgirl balladeer Juni Fisher will perform at noon, and then again at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Headlining the Circle Park Bluegrass stage is the Sons and Brothers, a family acoustic, western, bluegrass, gospel band. They perform Sunday at 4 p.m.
