Josh Blakesley's Christian music journey began in 1992 while he was involved with a high school peer ministry team.
During that time he saw the power of God at work in the lives of teens as they were transformed into believers and lovers of Jesus Christ, according to his bio on spiritandsong.com.
He vowed to be “sold out” for Christ and to use his gift of writing music to glorify God. In a world where well-produced secular music is dominant, he has dedicated himself to making quality contemporary Christian music. In addition, he's committed to spreading the Gospel through dynamic speaking and personal testimony.
Blakesley is set to play in Grand Junction at the Avalon Theatre Friday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Also, during the weekend, he is planning a Musician's Workshop Saturday, Aug. 29, 7-9 p.m., for anyone with musical experience. The workshop will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and is free for any music minister of any denomination and age interested in learning music and techniques from Blakesley and his band. To attend the Musician's Workshop, RSVP by Aug. 26 at 242-6121.
Proceeds from the weekend's events will benefit the IHM Youth Ministry.
