Special recognition goes to Heidi and Chad Ragland, owners of Great Harvest Bread Co., 2464 Hwy. 6 & 50. On Saturday, July 25, they donated 100 percent — you read that right! — of the day's sales proceeds to the White Family Home Construction Project.
The Whites are a local family with three daughter. Eight years ago their youngest, McKenzie, suffered a heart attack at school which left her paralyzed. Ever since, the family has been in dire need of a home to fit her special needs.
When I asked Heidi how they could afford to do this, she simply stated that her family has been so blessed, so why not.
By the way, next time you are at Great Harvest, I highly recommend the raspberry/blueberry mazurka bars. I still can't get them out of my mind.
