Funeral services were held for Rose T. Young on Fruita on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Martin Mortuary Chapel in Grand Junction, CO. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens, also in Grand Junction.
Mrs. Young died of natural causes on Monday, June 8th at Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction. She was 93.
She was born Rose T. Powell in Lincoln, NE to Henry and Charlotte (Engle) Powell, immigrants of Anton, Russia. She attended school in Lincoln, NE., Sterling, CO and Denver, CO. She graduated from West High School in Denver. She graduated from the Bon Ton Beauty School in Denver in February 1941 and she was a beautician for 25 years.
She married Arnold Davis in February, 1938 in Denver, CO. They moved to Grand Junction in 1960. Mr. Davis is deceased. She married Cliff Young, Sr. on October 26, 1965 in Delta, CO. He is deceased.
The couple had a farm on So. Camp Road with Orchards of apricots and peaches. They also raised cattle. They had a wonderful life together for 25 years.
Rose was a member and past president of both The Redlands Women's Club and The Redlands Women's Garden Club. She was also a member of the Fruita Ladies Lyons Club and The Mesa County Extension Club. Cliff and Rose were also members of the Redlands Community Club. Rose volunteered many hours at the Fruita Thrift Store.
Rose was preceded in death by all of her siblings, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two nieces and one stepson.
