Public comment on Wyo.-Colo. water plan

(AP) - The Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled two more public meetings in Colo. on a businessman’s plan to pipe water from southwest Wyo. to Front Range. The meetings June 10 in Craig and June 11 in GJ will take comments on what an environmental study of the proposal should address.

Aaron Million and Million Conservation Resource Group have proposed a 560-mile pipeline system to deliver 250,000 acre-feet of water from the Green River basin to water users in SE Wyo. and the Front Range.

Contests galore

Flag service offered by Redlands Lions

The Redlands Lions Club will be putting out flags on Sat., May 16, 2009, in remembrance of Armed Forces Day, AND Mon., May 25, in honor of Memorial Day. Happy 60th, VAMC!

A ceremony will be held 10am, on the Community Living Center patio to the left of the medical center’s main entrance. The VA Medical Center was built on land originally donated by the city of Grand Junction following World War II. Construction began in 1947 and was completed in 1949. The Medical Center was officially opened May 16, 1949.

The mutha of all yard sales

KAFM Community Radio will hold a giant yardsale and vinyl blowout Sat., June 6, 8-3pm, at the station’s offices and studios, 1310 Ute Ave. Part of the yard sale will include thousands of vinyl records of every genre. This record sale is also a yearly event and is always much anticipated by collectors, who come from far and wide to scoop up treasures. Info: 241-8801.

JUCO seeks volunteers

The 2009 JUCO Committee is currently seeking volunteers to assist with recycling after the evening JUCO games over Memorial Day Weekend. Volunteers duties include sweeping the stands for recyclables after each evening’s game. You’ll receive a free T-shirt, one free ticket to the day’s game you volunteer, and one free meal ticket.
