Serve liquor responsibly

The city of GJ is offering free training for liquor licensees (owners), their managers and employees, covering server responsibility, ID checking and enforcement, signs of intoxication, guarding against over service of patrons; Thurs., April 30, 1-5 p.m., City Hall Auditorium, 250 N. Fifth St. Register: 244-1510.

FAC at the RCC

The fifth annual FAC at the RCC is set for Fri., April 24, 5-9 p.m., Redlands Community Center (RCC), 2463 Broadway. Live music, silent auction, scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. Donation: $25 goes to the great cause of preserving and modernizing this historical building. Money raised in previous years has gone to remodeling bathrooms, electrical upgrade, windows, carpet. Free writing class for women

Be a part of the Sharefest

GJ Sharefest ’09 is calling on anyone who wants to come together for the Celebration/America’s Largest Potluck, Sunday, April 26, 1-5 p.m., Canyon View Park. Attend Art Center’s biggest fundraiser of year

Highway clean-up

History of JUCO

Mesa State College Phi Alpha Theta is sponsoring a presentation on the history of JUCO (the Junior College World Series). Jay Tolman, one of the early tournament founders, will discuss the tourney’s history and the importance of it in GJ; 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, in Houston Hall Room 129. Free, open to the public.

Viva el Vino!

The Junior Service League of GJ is now selling tickets for Viva el Vino, the Valley’s only wine tasting event that gives all proceeds to local area nonprofit organizations. Event is Saturday, May 2, 6:30-9:30 p.m., Two Rivers Convention Center, $60 at jslgj.com.
