First-time homebuyer seminar

The First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit provides up to $8,000 to qualified buyers who buy homes within a certain time period. The HBA and the GJ Area of Realtors Assoc. are holding a free seminar about this, Thursday, April 2, 6 p.m., Board of Realtors Office, 2743 Crossroads Blvd. Info: 245-0253.

Dog day afternoon

Educational Terrier Fun Day, sponsored by Robbie’s Iron Dog Olympics, is set for Sunday, April 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Palisade Riverbend Park. Racing, agility games, hot dog bobbing, more. $12/dog. Info: 487-3487.

Be forewarned

When visiting the lovely & expansive Canyon View Park, make sure you park your vehicle in a legal and safe parking spot. Parking on the south side of G Road is prohibited due to pedestrian and traffic safety concerns. GJPD will be issuing tickets to people who park illegally.

‘Best Movie Night Ever’

GJ City Youth Council is hosting the Best Movie Night Ever, Friday, April 3, 7-11 p.m., Avalon Theatre. Free event for teens; must have school ID. Two PG-13 movies are slated: “Rush Hour” and “Ten Things I Hate About You.” Also games, activities, concession stand 25 percent off snacks. Info: 254-3866.

It pays to be good at math

Holy Family Catholic School recently participated in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon program and raised $10,385 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Folks sponsored students by pledging an amount-per-problem or a one-time donation. More than 121 students participated.

Help clean the Colorado

A spring cleaning of the Colorado River is being planned by the W.A.T.E.R. Club Saturday, April 25. Volunteers will be floating three sections from Palisade to Fruita cleaning up the river. Go Bananas at Easter

Saturday, April 11, Bananas Fun Park, 2469 Riverside Pkwy., will host a day filled with Easter fun for the whole family. From 11 a.m.-7 p.m., free candy and pictures with the Easter Bunny; a $10 three-hour special that includes unlimited mini golf, bumper boats and inflatable play land; 1-4 p.m. air brush tattoos and face painting. Watercolor luncheon

The Western Colo. Watercolor Society will hold its spring luncheon at the Bookcliff Country Club on Saturday, April 18. Any artist interested in the society is welcome to attend. New members will be recongized, and new signature members will be awarded certificates. Guest artist Sara Oakley will critque members’ paintings.
