Hour of power at Mesa Theater

His name is “Spider.”

He plays music with east-coast-native rockers Powerman 5000.

Spider wants everyone to know they like it loud.

“The entire history of this band has been filled with chaos and uncertainty,” Mr. Spider writes on the band’s online bio. “ ... the result has always been loud, obnoxious, uncompromising rock ‘n roll.”

If these are the things which turn your crank, then consider stopping by the Mesa Theater & Club for the band’s second show in 16 months in Grand Junction.

Powerman 5000 plays the venue Saturday in an all-ages show — doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m.

Tickets will be $20 at the door.

Natives of Boston, the band has produced two independent releases, 1994’s “True Force” and 1995’s “The Blood Splat Rating System,” before hitting a bigger stage — they toured for a year with the likes of Marilyn Manson and Korn during Ozzfest.

“Suddenly we went from being this weird little underground band to having our faces on MTV and our songs played nationwide,” Spider says on the bio page.

The 2003 release “Transform” debuted at number 25 on Billboard’s top 200 and included a top 10 hit, “Free.”
