It's members' turn at The Art Center

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The 37th annual Members Exhibit and the Junction Clay Arts Guild Members Exhibit open tonight at The Art Center. There will also be an unveiling of The Art Center’s new solar panels, donated by High Noon Solar.

An exhibit of John Lintott’s paintings and Terry Shepherd’s ceramic works will continue in the North Gallery.

“The members show is fabulous,” said Art Center Director Cheryl McNab. “It just shows how diverse our members are. Our members work in every single medium,” including three-dimensional, functional and nonfunctional clay pieces, wood works, jewelry, metal work and paintings in all media.

Works from 130 different artists range from the abstract to representational pieces.

Each member is allowed to submit two pieces in the annual show.

About 20 artists are represented in the Junction Clay Arts Guild Members Exhibit.

The clay pieces consist of both functional and nonfunctional works.

“One woman does beautiful clay jewelry. She puts metal with it,” McNab said.

Most of the artwork exhibited tonight is for sale.

Lintott’s “New Landscapes” exhibit and Shepherd’s “Journeys in Clay and Fire” will continue through Jan. 24.

The unveiling of the solar panels is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The panels were a gift from High Noon Solar.

High Noon installed the 9.02 kilowatt-hour solar grid tie in late December.

“We want to be the solar company known for helping make solar accessible for everyone in our community,” said Heidi Ihrke, co-owner of High Noon Solar.

“We will save about 10 percent on our electric bill. It adds up over the years,” McNab said. “We’re really delighted that High Noon Solar chose us.”
