Rooms are filling up at Palisades newest full-service hotel, the Wine Country Inn.
With its classic Victorian style, it is tucked in to a 21-acre vineyard, within a short walk of two of Palisades wineries.
Its a beautiful hotel, one of the nicest in the Grand Valley, said Leif Johnson, executive director of the Palisade Chamber of Commerce. It will really start to position Palisade as a destination, and for that, we are very grateful.
The 80-room hotel will have an open house to Palisade residents Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and to others in the Grand Valley Aug. 23, said Jean Tally, who owns the property with her husband Richard.
For now, the owners contractors are putting final finishing touches on the property while renting rooms at the same time. Theyre installing a wrought-iron fence around the pool, signage, landscaping, Odds and ends apparently typical when you open a new building, Tally said. Its going very well.
The eight-bedroom Vintners Guest House is not yet complete, she said. But 72 guest rooms are open and available.
Afternoons at the Wine Country Inn, guests enjoy a wine tasting. The inn has a new wine label with five varieties that are marketed by Grand River Vineyards.
In the mornings, guests enjoy a waffle breakfast, or a delicacy from the crepe or omelette station. The catering kitchen is not yet complete.
Winefest weekend, Sept. 19-21, the hotel is booked solid, Tally said. During next weekends Palisade Peach Festival, rooms are still available.
To start getting the word out, Were working on some specials to try to introduce people to the property, Tally said. In August, room rates vary from $89 to $99.
That includes a special for parents of Mesa State College students, a You deserve a break, so come stay with us, special, Tally said.
There will also be a special for the Hazel Miller concert at Grand River Vineyards Aug. 16.
If people had too much wine, come stay with us instead of driving home, Tally said.
Two large weddings are booked, and there are some meetings booked as well, she said.
Little by little, were trying to think six months out, Tally said. The marketing includes a ski Powderhorn package
