Gregory Scott Katzer died at St. Marys hospital on July 18.
Gregory was born to Damian and Barbara Hilbish Katzer on May 27, 1970, in Emporia, Kan. Gregory attended the local schools, graduating from Central High School. He started working for Wal-Mart and continued for 18 years before leaving in September 2007 to start a new job with Halliburton as a frac hand.
Greg was diagnosed with cancer a short time ago; he was a fighter and stayed positive during his battle. Greg loved being with his family he was a wonderful husband to his wife, Cherisse, whom he married June 10, 2006, and a terrific father to his four sons. He loved playing soccer, basketball and golf.
Greg leaves behind his wife, Cherisse Katzer of Grand Junction; sons Taylor, Austin, Kyle and Kobie; parents, Damian and Barbara Katzer of Grand Junction; brothers Curtis (Happy) Katzer of Fruita and Major DeeJay (Becci) Katzer, USAF, of Bristow, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation for Gregory will be held at Martin Mortuary from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, with a Celebration of Gregorys life on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Martin Mortuary Chapel; burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Two funds have been set up at Western Rockies Federal Credit Union 2302 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501 in Gregs name to assist with medical bills and the boys education.
