Liberals assault First Amendment

How refreshing to see Christians exercising their right to demonstrate.

We are told in II Chronicles 7:14 that “if we call upon God, humble ourselves, pray, seek Him and turn from our wicked ways, He will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.” He can do it and would do it without politics, forming a committee or amending and amendment. He will — but he expects us to do our part.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:16 that his followers are being sent out as sheep among the wolves and are to be wary like snakes but gentle like doves. We Christians have got the gentle part down but the wary part of that command needs a major overhaul!

In 1963 the Supreme Court through the encouragement of one woman banned prayer from school. Since then, our schoolgrounds have become battlegrounds. Where there are no godly principles being invoked there is chaos.

In 1973 two female attorneys went before the Supreme Court and insisted a woman had a “right” to take a life of her unborn child through abortion. To date, more than 40 million babies have been destroyed in the name of freedom. We will never know how many wonderful moms/dads, CEOs, teachers and maybe even the greatest president our country has ever known, could have been in that number. We will never know.

Today the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” is once again placed before our elected leaders for vote. Legislation in 1949 established left-wing liberalism as the law of the land. Broadcasters were virtually forced to drop all controversial or religious programming rather than deal with trying to strike an “even balance” at their own expense. Thankfully religious and conservative broadcasting remains alive and well. For now.

However, the liberal assault on our First Amendment rights has been vigorously resurrected. We face the very real prospect of Christian broadcasters being tragically silenced.

It’s time for the Christian community to get up off its holy hands and become engaged in the political system. Call or e-mail your elected representatives/senators and just say no to the “Fairness Doctrine.” If we don’t take a stand and this propaganda passes in our Congress, then we get what we deserve — a muzzle.
