Paul Osborn Jordan

Lifetime North Fork-area resident Paul Osborn Jordan died on Monday, June 16, at his residence in Hotchkiss. He was 86.

On July 22, 1921, Paul Osborn was born to Robert Osborn and Mary Ellen Holder Jordan in Montrose. In 1934, the Jordan family settled on Redlands Mesa. Paul graduated from Hotchkiss High School class of 1939.

During World War II, Paul served in the U.S. Army for 39 months. He was stationed in several countries including Africa, Italy and France with the 753rd Tank Battalion. Paul was honorably discharged.

On Dec. 25, 1945, Paul married the love of his life, Ellen Epps, in Hotchkiss and has resided on the Rogers Mesa farm since that time.

Paul drove a school bus for 23 years and retired as Elementary School custodian in 1986. More importantly, he was a loving husband and father to his children.

His interests included his love for the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing or hunting for arrowheads. Paul was also a very active lifetime member of the Black Canyon VFW Post 9333.

Paul is survived by his children Robert (Ann) Jordan of Hotchkiss, David (Jean) Jordan of Rangely and Irene Jordan of Hotchkiss; and sister Allene DeVoe of La Mesa, Calif. Paul is further survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by three brothers and his parents.

A funeral service was held June 19 at the Riverside Cemetery, with Gaylen Kinser and the Black Canyon VFW Post 9333 presiding.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Fork Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 127, Hotchkiss, CO 81419.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
