Cops say Glade Park shooting accidental

A 20-year-old man was hospitalized Sunday after authorities said he was wounded in the abdomen when his shotgun accidentally fired. Allan Duval, 20, was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital around 9:30 a.m. Sunday via Care Flight helicopter from Glade Park. Duval and another person were riding four-wheelers in the area of 16400 DS Road when a shotgun Duval was carrying somehow became lodged inside his four-wheeler, MC sheriff’s said. The weapon discharged as he tried to free it. Duval was listed in fair condition Sunday afternoon.

Tough enough?

The U.S. Navy Seal Fitness Challenge is scheduled Saturday, June 28, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Orchard Mesa Community Pool. A variety of tests, including running, sit-ups, push-ups and swimming, will be administered by SEALS, who are in town for a parachute event during County Jam 2008. Two held in alleged carjacking

Tyler Anderson, 24, and Christopher Clark, 24, were arrested after allegedly threatening a man with a metal pipe before stealing his car, according to GJPD. It happened Friday afternoon in the area of D 1/2 Road and Dodge Street. Both men were booked into the Mesa County Jail on charges including felony menacing, aggravated motor vehicle theft and criminal mischief.

This is National Mosquito Control Awareness Week. The Mesa County Health Department and the Grand River Mosquito Control District encourage all Mesa County residents to prevent the spread of West Nile virus by implementing simple backyard mosquito control measures at home. That starts with eliminating breeding habits: Removing or emptying standing water sources such as buckets and bird baths. Info: www.mosquito.org.

Clothing vandal

Dustin Barlow, 29, was arrested early Saturday for allegedly destroying a victim’s clothing, GJPD said.

DUI checkpoint Saturday

The Colorado State Patrol said a DUI checkpoint will be up and running Saturday, June 28. They didn’t say where, but if we had to guess, maybe somewhere near Country Jam in Mack. Hmmmmm????
