Fred H. McKinney of Redvale died Thursday, June 12, at Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose. He was 71.
Fred was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Norwood to Harold Bruce and Mabel Grace (Deal) McKinney. He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Norwood.
He was the owner of Southwestern Ready Mix and also was active as a rancher. Fred was an expert heavy equipment operator.
Fred served with the U. S. Army as an honor guard in Washington, D.C. On Oct. 4, 1957, Fred was married to Jo Ellen Clotworthy in Ridgway. She survives him.
Other survivors include son Fred (Marla McKinney) Bruce of Naturita; daughter Debbie (Bryan) Littlejohn of Redvale; brother Bruce V. McKinney of Loa, Utah; sister Lila Mae Archuletta of Farmington, N.M.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His parents, one brother and one son preceded him in death.
Freds greatest joys were his family and friends and his yard.
A memorial service will be held in the Redvale Community Church on Tuesday, June 17, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Clint Perry officiating. Cremation preceded this service and a private family inurnment will be held in the Coventry Cemetery at Redvale.
Memorial contributions may be made to Redvale Community Center at P.O. Box 87, Redvale, CO 81431.
