A multi-agency drill will take place at the Airport Monday, May 19.
Agencies that will be involved in the drill include: Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority, Mesa County Emergency Management, Grand Junction Fire Department, Grand Junction Police Department, Transportation Security Administration, Allegiant Air, Mesa County Health Department, St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Junction VA Medical Center, Community Hospital, Grand Junction Civil Air Patrol, Palisade Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Grand Valley Transit, Mesa County RACES, Federal Aviation Administration and Mesa County Valley School District #51
The drill will begin around 10 a.m. and last until around 12:30 p.m.
The drill is designed to test the ability to of Mesa County Emergency Responders to respond to a major airplane crash and handle the resulting fire and treatment and transportation of the victims of that incident.
The purpose of the drill is to coordinate local resources and to better understand the capabilities of all the responders.
