GRAND JUNCTION — Colorado high school graduates attending Mesa State College this fall have a new scholarship option.
The Robert “Bob” Grant Memorial Scholarship will award $2,200 per semester to a student planning to enroll in the Mesa State Symphony Orchestra this fall. The student must major in music, maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average, take at least 12 credit hours a semester and play a string instrument. Preference will be given to music performance majors.
To apply for the scholarship, contact the Mesa State College Foundation. Check online for an application as soon as Wednesday at
http://www.mesastate.edu/foundation/index.htm.
Waylon Jordan started the scholarship in honor of his grandfather, former Daily Sentinel photographer Robert Grant.
“I’ve wanted to do some sort of a tribute since he died in 2000 and I felt a scholarship would be the method he’d prefer,” Jordan said.
Jordan will fund the scholarship, but welcomes donations in the scholarship’s name to the Mesa State Foundation.
