Florine E. Allen of Fruita died on Tuesday, May 13, at Family Health West in Fruita. She was 83.

Florine was born on Feb. 11, 1925, in Nevada, Mo., to Elson and Mabel (Young) Wright. She married Vernon H. Allen. He is deceased. Florine married James Allen in Las Vegas, and he died July 4, 1993, in Grand Junction. She lived in Grand Junction for 46 years.

Florine attended the Church of Christ. Among her favorite activities was spending time with her family at family gatherings. She also enjoyed traveling and fishing. She had worked as a dietary aid at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and was a homemaker.

Her survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Lee and Judy Allen, and Vernon and Lanita Allen, all of Grand Junction, and Robert Allen of Spokane, Wash. He is further survived by sister Ethel Faye Rosier of Ridge Crest, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her parents and husbands Vernon and James preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Orchard Mesa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Health West Main Street Unit at P. O. Box 130, Fruita, CO 81521.
