Bessie Jane Pruitt Trimmer

Bessie Jane Trimmer died May 9 at her home in Grand Junction. She was 69.

Bessie Jane Ashby was born on Feb. 27, 1939, to William Arthur and Mary Agnes (Nation) Ashby in Delta, where she grew up. She married Donnie (Don) Eldon Pruitt Dec. 14, 1957. They lived in the Cortez area for a few years before moving to Delta, then on to Grand Junction, where she spent the remainder of her life. After the passing of husband Don in September 1994 she married Marvin Ted Trimmer in December 1996.

She was dedicated to her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Bessie is survived by son Clinton Pruitt of Grand Junction; daughters Myra (Roger) Neely of Olathe, Myrna (Bill) McHodgkins of Pueblo and Barbara “Jeannie” (Ryan) McGehee of Delta; sister Beverly (Marvin) Peterson of Glade Park; sister-in-law Betty Ashby of Delta; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Mary Ashby; husbands Don Pruitt and Marvin Ted Trimmer; daughter Roberta Pruitt; sisters Shirley Ashby, Mary Ashby and Annie McFarlin; brother Doyle Ashby; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held May 12 at the Church of the First Born. Burial followed at the Cahone Community Cemetery in Cahone, Colo.
