April showers bring bouquet of changes to local sports slate

Print Comment
April showers might bright May flowers, but the rain and snow that are part of spring in Colorado also wreak havoc for area high school teams and for Mesa State College, when it comes to finding dry fields to play on.

Palisade High School announced three changes to varsity teams’ schedules due to poor field conditions.

Friday’s girls soccer game in Craig with Moffat County has been moved to April 30. The following day’s league match at Steamboat Springs will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. rather than the previously scheduled morning kickoff.

Additionally, Palisade’s varsity baseball doubleheader on Saturday with Moffat will be played at Canyon View Park starting at 11 a.m.

On the college front, Mesa State’s opponents for this weekend’s games at Fort Lewis College have been swapped. On Saturday, the Mavericks open with a doubleheader with Metro State. Mesa concludes the trip to Durango against Regis Sunday.
