The Central High School Speech and Debate Team made an unprecedented run through the Western Slope invitational speech tournaments during the regular season, said sponsor Tony Bichler.
The team attended four major events and won the first-place team sweepstakes award at all of them.
“Never, in the history of the team, has this occurred,” Bichler said. “But in this challenging season, the team has come out on top of all of the events they have been eligible to win.
“This incredible run culminated in the first-place finish at this past weekend’s Montrose Rendezvous.”
Next on the schedule are the qualifying and championship tournaments at state and national. The individual results at the Montrose turnament are below:
