Planet Earth and The 4 Directions Gallery is inviting art lovers to come see the ruby slippers on display tonight at the opening reception of “The Artists of Oz” exhibit.
Eight contemporary artists of Oz, the artists’ workshop in New Castle, are showing their works at Planet Earth through Feb. 9.
The pieces include photography and assemblage by Kelly Cox; free-standing “alter etui” sculpture by Ardith Robinson; mixed media, including jewelry, paintings and collage by Winnie Johnson and Terry Muldoon; “delicate watercolors of energy and nature” by Carmel Walden; “spirit dolls with attitude” by Jacquetta Green; and “edgy” mixed water medias by Patty Ringer and Ellen Zargoras.
Robinson, Green and Muldoon, along with Planet Earth curator Caole Lowry, will also be showing their artwork in the Glenwood Springs’ Wild Women exhibit in June.
Ringer said she named the artists’ workshop Oz because “an artist must grow in heart, mind and courage — their own journey down the yellow brick road to find what they already have within, and then express these traits in their work.”
