Each year during Christmas break, the Grand Junction Police Department hosts a free bowling event, Bowl With a Cop, for kids in the Grand Valley.

The event, which rotates bowling alleys each year, was held Friday afternoon at Freeway Bowl.

This year, more than 100 kids came out to bowl with officers Steven Huskey and Jeff Grady.

Freeway Bowl graciously opened its 46 lanes, minus 12 for league bowlers, free of charge including shoes to students kindergarten through 12th grade.
