Richard J. Peirce, 67, of Grand Junction died Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Richard was born Aug. 28, 1940, in Los Angeles to Edward and Jane Clark Peirce. He grew up in Arcadia, Calif. In 1956, he moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., and from 1962-1965, he lived in Davis, Calif. He then moved to Pasadena, Calif., where he took a job as assistant professor of biology at Pasadena City College.
Richard married Nancy Reib, and they were together for 24 years in Pasadena before moving to Grand Junction in 2001. After moving to Grand Junction, Robert loved to volunteer at Dinosaur Journey, preparing fossils and giving tours. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Grand Junction and his brother, Robert Peirce, of Atascadero, Calif. His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial service will take place next spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Museum of Western Colorado, Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado or Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley.
Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
