Planet Earth and the Four Directions Gallery is hosting its holiday reception and show, “The Home Show: Living with Art,” at 7 p.m. today.
There will be live music provided by cellist Holly Mattson, flutist Ron Standing and vocalist Susan Cypher.
Works from a large number of local artists, as well as artisans from South America, Africa, and Asia, will be for sale.
“We’ll have hand-dyed wools, finger puppets from Peru, rugs from Morocco, abstract paintings and hand-made benches,” said gallery owner Caole Lowry.
There will also be sarongs from Indonesia, hand-made jewelry, vintage furniture, neon clocks and wearable art.
“It’s just packed with treasures, from hand-made items to imports,” Lowry said. “It’s a really rich exhibit.”
Local artists represented in the show include Linda Landauer, Stephanie Amos, Maja Sommersted, Cayenna Rose Hanna, Henry Hanna, Theresa Hochhalter, Lyn Koch, Caole Lowry, Eric Charlton, Laura Walker, Alyssa Oswald Brackin, John Steele, Cari Ann Taylor, Robin Underwood, Wendell McConnell, Pat Kirby, Lui Quin, Ramona Winkeller, Rooster Barnhart, Christine Feller, Lauren Ohlson and Randi Elliot.
“The concept behind this show is everything is art — what we wear, how we decorate our homes, how we converse with each other,” Lowry said.
The exhibit will be up until Dec. 29.
